Gemza nets five goals as SPASH routes Merrill

Stevens Point — Senior midfielder Abby Gemza got five goals, including four in the second half, to pace the Panthers to a 7-0 win over Merrill at the Portage County Youth Soccer complex Tuesday.

Gemza go her first with just three minutes left in the half, making it 1-0.

She got four more consecutively in the second half, followed by scores from Lauren Johnson and Sierra Hefferan.

“Merrill’s keeper Kaylee Bowe did a great job and made some phenomenal saves,” said SPASH coach Allie Rogesheske, whose team is now 5-4 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Merrill falls to 1-9 in the WVC.
