CWS Team of the Week: January 6-13

Wausau— Take a look at the Team of the Week candidates and vote today!

Neillsville Girls Basketball-– Neillsville moved to 8-2 in the Cloverbelt East with a 68-40 crushing of Gilman.

Marshfield Wrestling-– The Tigers flexed their muscle in a win over Wausau East, picking up a 71-9 victory.

Pacelli Girls Basketball— The Cardinals remained unbeaten in conference play with a 53-41 win over Port Edwards. Pacelli is now 6-0 in the CWC South, 10-2 overall.

Stanley-Boyd/Owen-Withee wrestling— A match that saw 12 pins went in favor of S-B/O-W, as they downed Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal 48-34. The victors had 7 pins in the match.

SPASH Girls Basketball-– The game that had everyone anticipating a classic saw just that, and it was SPASH that picked up a 90-87 win over Wausau West to take over sole possession of first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference.

Stratford Wrestling / Boys Basketball — The Tigers’  wrestling and boys basketball teams were equally impressive this week. First, the hardcourt saw Stratford improve to 8-0 in the Marawood with a 62-46 win over Auburndale, giving the Tigers sole possession of first place. The Stratford wrestlers mopped up their opponents on the mat, first dismantling Medford 62-6 and then dominating at their home duals, defeating   Luxemburg-Casco 42-15, Antigo 67-6,  and Holmen, 46-27.

Colby Girls Basketball— The Hornets continue to impress, picking up a pair of Cloverbelt wins over Columbus Catholic and Owen-Withee. Colby is 10-0 in the Cloverbelt and 13-0 overall.

Athens Boys Basketball— The Blue Jays remained tied atop the Marawood North after they eeked out a 70-65 win over Rib Lake.

Columbus Catholic Boys Basketball— The Dons improved to 7-0 in the Cloverbelt with a 78-55 win over Loyal. Columbus is tied for the conference lead at 7-0, with a showdown of the leaders Tuesday night in Neillsville.

Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln Boys Basketball— The Red Raiders trailed by 14 at halftime, but came back with a vengeance in the second half, capped off by a three-pointer from Austin Pelot as time expired to pick up their first WVC win, 92-91.

Loyal Girls Basketball – The Greyhounds had a pair of wins this week, downing  Gilman 98-91  and then defeating Greenwood 54-33. Loyal is now 7-3 in the Cloverbelt East.

Auburndale Boys Basketball— The Apaches throttled Nekoosa in nonconference action, 82-39.

Wausau West Hockey— The Warriors picked up a huge 2-1 win over SPASH this week to improve their unbeaten streak to 10 games, and sole possession of first place in the WVC.

    Wrestlers did very well and managed to beat there opponent that they have not in several years

    Stanley Boyd Owen -withee wrestling is a very awsome team I love being a orioles
