Wausau— Take a look at the Athlete of the Week candidates and vote today!

Voting ends on Wednesday at approximately 5 p.m.

If you come across a great performance this upcoming week and feel that an athlete (or two) should be recognized, shoot us a tweet @centralwisco or drop us a comment on Facebook and we’ll take your nomination into consideration. Also check out past nominees and winners on the CWS Featured Athlete Page.

Ashley Streveler, Colby— Steveler had 31 points and made good on five three-pointers as Colby crushed Owen-Withee, 63-16.

Charlie McCarty, Newman– McCarty, a sophomore, averaged 21.5 points and 11 rebounds in losses this week to Auburndale and Prentice.  He also shot 50% from three point range in those two games.

Mitchell Zahurones, Wausau West– Zahurones was a force in Wausau West’s loss to Lakeland on Thursday, dropping 33 points.  Lakeland coach Rich Fortier referred to Zahurones as a “baller” in his post-game interview.  That seems like a pretty fitting description.

Dayne Hoyord, SPASH– Hoyord knocked home two goals in SPASH’s 6-0 win over Marshfield on Thursday night.  After defeating Waukesha on Saturday, the Panthers look to keep things rolling against rival Wisconsin Rapids on December 6.

Zion Turner, D.C. Everest– Turner keyed the Evergreens’ offense in a 99-70 win over Antigo by putting up a game-high 23 points.

Elle Leberg, Assumption– Leberg was a catalyst for Assumption in their win over Abbotsford as she netted 14 points to lead the Royals to a convincing victory.

Elizabeth Boulanger, Wausau East– Boulanger led the Lumberjacks with 19 points in a tough non-conference loss to Wittenberg-Birnamwood.

Sarah Mueller, Pacelli– Mueller did her part for the Cardinals in a 53-40 win over Marion as she scored 16 points to lead the team.

Colton Flammini, Rapids– Flammini scored more goals in a single game than most hockey players will score in total this season.  Flammini lit up Waupaca with six goals as the Red Raiders picked up a 8-4 win.

Quinn Steckbauer, Merrill– Steckbauer was a beast in Merrill’s come back win against Antigo.  He scored 36 points to lead the Bluejays.
