Franz, SPASH boys cross country earn all-state honors

Stevens Point– The 2018 SPASH boys cross country team had another successful run this fall, and the awards keep coming in for both the team and for individuals on the team.

SPASH senior Chad Franz was recognized as a first team all-state member with his time of 16:05.9 at the state meet in Wisconsin Rapids on October 27.

As a junior, Franz averaged a time of 16:56 and ran 17:06 at the state meet.  Through determination and hard work, his average time as a senior was 16:15. He ran 16:05.9 at the state meet to earn his all-state honor.The SPASH boys cross country team also earned the academic all state honor for their work in the classroom as well as their ability on the cross country course.

In order to qualify for academic all state, a state-participating team needs to have a combined average GPA of 3.4 or above.  The SPASH boys team had a 3.795 combined average GPA.

The SPASH boys claimed a fifth place finish at the state meet in Wisconsin Rapids on October 27.

The SPASH boys cross country team has earned Academic All State as a team every year since the award was established.
