STEVENS POINT — Stephanie Hauser, assistant director of the Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association, will serve a six-year term as the chair of the National Federation of State High School Association Gymnastics Rules Committee beginning this fall.
The position encompasses considerable responsibility and commitment. The committee is responsible to review and modify the high school gymnastics rules for the entire nation. Committee members are directed by the NHFS to evaluate gymnastics competitions and rules to contribute each year at the committee’s meeting.
Her responsibilities as a chair includes assisting the NFHS staff in developing rule materials, proofing materials for accuracy and clarity and other assignments identified by the NFHS.
The gymnastics committee is comprised of representation from various NFHS geographical sections of the country, as well as representation from the NFHS officials association and NFHS coaches association.
Hauser chairs her first committee meeting October 20-22, 2019, in Indianapolis, Ind.
Her appointment to the chair adds to the WIAA executive staff’s involvement on national committees. Hauser is also a member of the NFHS Student Services Committee. Deputy Director Wade Labecki is a member of the NFHS Football Rules Committee, Assistant Director Tom Shafranski has served as chair and is a current member of the NFHS Hockey Rules Committee, and Communications Director Todd Clark is a member of the NFHS Spirit of Sport Selection Committee.
The membership of the WIAA oversees interscholastic athletic programs for 511 senior high schools and 44 junior high/middle level schools in its membership. It will sponsor 27 championship tournament series in 2018-19. For more information, please contact the WIAA office at (715) 344-8580.
