Pittsville– In a game scheduled after Marion/Tigerton forfeited its contest with Pittsville, the Panthers came up with a 28-24 win over Clear Lake.
Pittsville got on the board in the first quarter when Beau Merritt punched it in from three yards out to give Pittsville a 7-6 lead.
The scoring for Pittsville continued in the second quarter when Sam Hardinger hit Chris Snook on a 56-yard touchdown pass to put the Panthers up 14-6.
Hardinger connected with Snook later in the game on a 24-yard scoring strike, and Hardinger hit pay dirt on a one-yard touchdown scamper to round out the scoring for Pittsville.
Hardinger finished the day with 157 passing yards and two touchdowns, while Merritt rushed for 96 yards to lead the Panthers on the ground. Snook had 75 receiving yards.
In total, Pittsville out-gained Clear Lake 302-249.
