Rafters close home stand with series against Woodchucks

Wisconsin Rapids— After the loss last night to the Dock Spiders, the Rafters move to 7-5 on the season. The Rafters now stand at third in the South Division and are two games back from the division leaders, the Madison Mallards.

The Rafters look to bounce back after a 6-2 loss against the Fond du Lac last night. Wisconsin Rapids totaled six hits last night. Two came from Josh Campbell (Stephen F. Austin), he went 2-for-2 as he came in the game in the seventh inning. Also recording two hits, was standout Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV). He went 2-for-4 adding two singles.

Today, the Rafters will start their second series with the Wisconsin Woodchucks. The Woodchucks are now 5-7 after their win over the Kenosha Kingfish at home last night.  The Wisconsin Woodchucks’ hot hitter is #15 Alex Toral. The freshman from University of Miami is batting .406 and has 13 hits, two doubles and four RBI in eight games for the Woodchucks.

Taking the hill today for the Rafters is Gareth Stroh. This will be Stroh’s 2018 debut for the Rafters, however not his all-time debut as he was a part of the 2016 Rafters Summer Collegiate World Series Championship season. In 2016, Stroh recorded a 3.60 ERA, a 5-2 record and led the Rafters in strikeouts with 55 in 60.0 innings pitched.

On the mound for the Woodchucks today is Orsen Josephina. This season for the Woodchucks Josephina sports a 1.12 ERA with six strikeouts, five walks and eight hits in 8.0 innings pitched.

First pitch is slated for 12:05 p.m.
