Marshfield — Maddie Simpson scored four first-half goals as D.C. Everest kept its hold on first place in the Wisconsin Valley Conference with a 6-0 win at Griese Park Thursday.
Simpson got unassisted goals in the 13th and 37th minutes and assists from Madisyn Irwin in the 14 and Heidi Meuret in the 40th to give the Evergreens a 4-0 halftime lead.
Olivia Fernstaedt and Brenna Raasch added unassisted goals in the 71st and 75th minutes, respectively, to round out the scoring.
The game also marked the return of goalie Katelyn Wolfgram for the Evergreens. She garnered four saves in her shutout effort, while Marshfield keeper Mikayla Breuggen had 10.
Everest, now 4-0 in conference, can wrap up its sixth consecutive league title next week, but it plays second-place SPASH (3-0-1 WVC, 10 points) on Tuesday and third-place Wisconsin Rapids (2-0-2, 8 points) on Thursday.
With the loss, Marshfield (0-3-1 WVC, 1 point) remains tied for sixth with Merrill, a 4-1 loser to Stevens Point Thursday night.
