Stevens Point– The SPASH athletic department issued a press release on Thursday announcing Jon Krull as the successor to Scott Anderson as the boys basketball coach.
Krull has been an assistant basketball coach in the SPASH program for the past eight years, and takes over for Scott Anderson who resigned the position this spring.
“Jon Krull brings a wealth of basketball knowledge, coaching experience, along with a high level of passion and work ethic to the position”, said SPASH athletic director, Michael Blair. “We are very excited and to have Coach Krull lead our SPASH boys’ basketball program. His background as a player at UWSP and his tenure as an assistant coach in the premier basketball program in the state prepares him well for this position. Jon has a high-level of commitment to SPASH and our student-athletes.”
Krull won two basketball national championships as a player at UWSP where he was a two-time all conference performer. He has also won three-straight WIAA Division 1 Basketball State Championships from 2015-2017 as an assistant coach with SPASH.
Anderson stepped down after serving at the helm of SPASH boys basketball for nine seasons. In that time, he compiled an overall record of 179-52.
Anderson led the Panthers to state titles in 2015, 2016 and 2017, respectively.
In the 2014-15 season, SPASH went 27-1 en route to the first of three consecutive state titles. The 2015-16 squad was undefeated at 28-0 and the state championship 2016-17 team compiled a 24-4 record.
