Tomah— The Abbotsford 6th grade girls basketball team competed in its second tournament in as many weeks, and against top-caliber competition, came away with a 3rd place finish, going 1-2 in the tourney.
In their opening game, Abbotsford started out slow, trailing 13-6 before storming back to take a 17-15 halftime lead. After halftime, the Falcons blitzed Tomah with a full court press that paid immediate dividends, causing turnovers and leading to easy baskets, and picked up a 42-30 win.
Sydney Falteisek led Abbotsford with 23 points, 11 rebounds, 2 blocks, and 2 steals. Briseida Escalera had 10 points, and Hannah Hoffman had 5 rebounds.

In the Falcons’ second game, Abbotsford played a tough traveling squad from Winona, dropping a 34-20 decision. Falteisek had 9 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 rebounds.
Escalera had 5 points, Broadhagen had 2 points and 6 rebounds, and Hoffman added 4 points.
In the final game of the day, Abbotsford played a close game with Neillsville throughout, falling in the final minute, dropping a 35-32 decision.
Falteisek had 23 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 blocks, with Broadhagen adding 4 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals for the Falcons.
Hoffman added 2 points and Escalera had 1 point in the loss.
