Spencer – The Spencer/Columbus Rockets continue their torrid streak, dominating opponents in 2015. A big reason for the Rockets’ success is their formidable running game, and running back Hunter Luepke is racking up big numbers for the Rockets.
In Spencer/Columbus’ victory over Stanley-Boyd, Luepke earned a nomination for the CWS Athlete of the Week for his dominance in the backfield for the Rockets. After three games in the Cloverbelt Conference, Luepke leads the conference with 236 yards rushing and an impressive 6 touchdowns.

CWS: What classes are you taking this year?
Luepke: Advanced math, English, Spanish, chemistry, global issues.
CWS: What is your favorite class?
Luepke: Advanced math.
CWS: What are your hobbies?
Luepke: Sports, fishing, hunting, anything outdoors.
CWS: Who is/was your favorite teacher?
Luepke: Mr. Gorst.
CWS: What other sports do you play?
Luepke:I play baseball and wrestle.
CWS: What is your most memorable moment as an athlete?
Luepke: The most memorable moment as an athlete was winning the playoff game in Wautoma last year. (Spencer/Columbus, the #5 seed, knocked off top seeded Wautoma in Level 2 Playoff Action.)
CWS: Who is your favorite athlete?
Luepke: Melvin Gordon.
CWS: What do you enjoy most about playing home games?
Luepke:The crowd and fans and the pep band.
CWS: What’s the best thing about being a student-athlete at Spencer/Columbus?
Luepke: Being around my teammates all day.
CWS: What words of wisdom can you give to other student-athletes?
Luepke: Do the best you can do all the time to become the best you can be.
