Wisconsin Rapids– Vince Biegel of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids has been selected to play in the 2012 U.S. Army All American Bowl, joining an elite group of All Americans from across the country. The game will be held on Saturday, January 7th, 2012, at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. The annual East vs West  match up will be televised live on NBC at 1pm ESt. The game will feature the nation’s top 90 high school players.

“Vince Biegel is a talented athlete whose leadership and teamwork qualities have made him a standout at Lincoln High School,” said John Myers, Director of Strategic U.S. Army Accessions Command. “Only the strongest wear the Army colors, and Biegel possesses similar mental, emotional and physical strengths to Army strong soldiers. We are proud to honor all the U.S. Army All American Bowl players and congratulate each of them on their selection.”

As a result of Vince’s selection, head coach Tony Biolo is invited to travel to San Antonio and attend the U.S. Army Coaches Academy, an elite three day learning experience featuring NFL and NCAA coaches, as well as participating in game week activities.

“This is the top game for a high school player to attend. More NFL players play in this game than any other,” said Vince’s father, Rocky Biegel.

Some of the NFL players who have played in this game include  Adrian Peterson, Mark Sanchez, Tim Tebow, Ndamokong Suh.  More than 175 former players in this game are in the NFL, including 48 first round draft picks. Stanford’s Andrew Luck played in this game as well. Last season, the 2011 U.S. All American Bowl was the most watched sporting event of the weekend, even beating out the NFL playoff’s.

“Vince Biegel has worked very hard to earn this honor. This is a great award for Vince, and for Lincoln High School. Vince wants to go down there and represent his school wel,.” said Biolo.

CWS has had the privilege of watching Vince play the past two season, both in games and practices. In all attempts to get Vince to talk about Vince, he would always defer to his teammates. Vince is the real deal. We at CWS congratulate Vince and his parents, Rocky and Jaime,  on this prestigious award.
