CentralWisconsinSports.net FAQ

Here are some questions we get asked quite a bit…

What does this photo have to do with the page? Nothing, really…

Q: How much does it cost to use your site?

A: CentralWisconsinSports.net is 100% free.  Many sites force you to become a member before you can view their content.  In most cases, that means you are trading personal information for the privilege of being able to use the site.  We don’t require that you become a member of our site to view our content.

Other sites will allow you to see some of their content for free, but will charge you for additional access, including archived content, etc.

You don’t have to pay anything to view any of the content on our site. That includes current content as well as content that is archived.  Simply use the search box or the drop-down categories menu to find what you’re looking for and enjoy all of the free sporty goodness.

Q: What’s a paywall?

A: Paywalls are used to make you pay for online content.  A paywall allows minimal (or no) access to content without a subscription.  Some sites allow you to view ten articles before your access to content on that site is cut off.

Q: Does CWS use paywalls?

A: No.  We know that our readers are savvy internet users and the truth is, if you can’t find free content on our site (which you can!), you’ll be able to find it somewhere else.  That’s why we work very hard to keep access to all content on our entire site 100% free.

Q: Is it true that Brian Kalish dominated the basketball court in high school and his nickname was ‘Dr. Dunkenstein’?

A: No comment.

Q: Why don’t you guys cover every single sporting event in central Wisconsin?

A: Great question.  This is probably the question we get asked the most.  CentralWisconsinSports.net started out covering about one sporting event per week.  In the spring of 2011, we expanded to include articles about various central Wisconsin sports teams every single day.  The site continues to expand and we look forward to including more area teams in the near future.

Q: Do you have a Facebook page?

A: Why yes, we do.  Join our Facebook to get additional content and have a conversation with our wacky staff members.

Q: Is it true that you guys don’t like Facebook?

A: We can confirm that at least one of our staff members has a vehement hatred for Facebook.  This staff member is an outspoken advocate of Google +.  We also have a page on Google +.

Q: Do you cover college and pro sports?

A: Our focus is on local sports.  However, we love college and pro sports as well. As such, our daily blog offers our take on the national sports scene.  We also talk about the national scene on Facebook and occasionally have guest columns devoted to pro sports.

Q: What’s up with all the hunting articles?

A: Local outdoors coverage is pretty hard to come by in these parts.  We love hunting and fishing just as much as we love competitive sports, so we include regular outdoors coverage in our weekly rotation of articles.

Q: I see that you guys do a lot of player features.  What if there is an athlete I would like you to feature?

A: The CWS Student Athlete Spotlight is easily the most popular of our weekly features. If you would like a particular athlete featured, contact us!
