Stevens Point — Nine different players scored for the SPASH Panthers Tuesday as they downed Merrill 10-0 in a Wisconsin Valley Conference matchup at the Portage County Youth Soccer complex.
SPASH evened its conference record to 2-2 and moved to 4-3 overall. Merrill is 0-5 in the WVC and 0-9 overall.
The Panthers wasted no time getting on the board as junior Ricky Perez was awarded a penalty kick in the first minute and converted it for the early lead.
They then began to score at almost perfectly regular intervals, getting goals in the 8th (from Evan Hartjes off a Keondre Porter assist), 16th (Lio Perkins, Ben Yang assist), 24th (Yang, Perez assist), 31st (Brendan Chang, unassisted) and 39th minutes (Isko Ollech, Perez assist).
That made it 6-0 at halftime. Perez added a second goal in the 50th minute, and Blake Milkowski scored off a Perkins assist just a minute later to make it 8-0.
In the 61st, Porter scored a goal himself, with Brendan Leahy assisting. Isaac Williams ended the game in the 64th off a Yang assist, kicking the mercy rule into effect.
Ethan Manzke had one save in goal for SPASH, while Merrill’s Mason Gilbert tallied 8.
SPASH visits D.C. Everest for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday.
