CWS Athlete of the Week: April 23 – 30

Wausau– Take a look at the CWS Athlete of the Week candidates and vote today!

Voting ends on Wednesday at approximately 5 p.m.

Cassidy Ziegahn, Rapids– Ziegahn was a force at the plate for Rapids in their 18-0 win over Wausau East.  Ziegahn, a freshman, hit two three-run shots to lead the Red Raiders.

Aubrey Drohner, SPASH– Drohner hit a grand slam home run against Chippewa Falls on Saturday and followed that up with another home run against Bay Port in two big non-conference wins for the Panthers.

Amber Baehman, Tri-County– Baehman launched a grand slam home run as part of a 3-3, 6 RBI performance at the plate as Tri-County throttled Wild Rose 12-0.

Erin Sullivan, Assumption– Sullivan turned in a monster performance against Marathon, going 4-4 at the plate and belting two home runs in a 10-3 win for Assumption.

Bailey Waldhauser, Loyal— Waldhauser turned in two first place finishes for the Greyhounds at the BRF Invite. She anchored the Greyhounds’ 4×100 meter relay first place finish and coupled that with a first place in the high jump, jumping an impressive 5’2″.

Kiley Akey, Weyauwega-Fremont– Akey handcuffed Pacelli, striking out 14 batters and allowing just four hits in a nine-inning shut out win.

Maddie Simpson D.C. Everest– Simpson had two goals against SPASH to deliver the Evergreens a 3-2 victory.

Tiffany Meinders, Spencer–  Meinders struck out 12 batters in six innings of work against Gilman in a 12-2 win for the Rockets.

Kaitlyn Brooks, Athens— Brooks turned in a hitting clinic this week for Athens. She was  3-3 with two doubles and a home run, and scored three times as Athens downed Chequamegon. Brooks then turned in a monster hitting performance in Athens win over Prentice,  going 4-4 with three doubles, three runs scored, and 7 RBI.

    These are all very commendable achievements this week but as I said before trying to vote for an athlete from various sports that have many different skill sets is not appropriate. There are plenty of games played in central Wisconsin to have multiple choices in the different sport categories. This current process is apples and oranges.

    Bailey is doing great!! She’s just 7 months post ACL repair surgery!! Outstanding determination!!
