Stevens Point– A couple of weeks ago, Pacelli football seemed to have little chance of making the playoffs. It would have been easy for them to give up, but the Cardinals won big over their last two opponents this regular season (Weyauwega-Fremont last week and Wittenberg-Birnamwood this week) and, thusly, catapulted themselves into a playoff match up with Wild Rose on Friday night.
First thing’s first. Pacelli, in a must-win situation to make the playoffs, went into battle against Wittenberg-Birnamwood and came out 62-15 victors in week 8.
Pacelli’s Jesse Raczek carried the ball 19 times for 264 yards and five– count ‘em, five– touchdowns to lead the Cardinals.
Mike Fuller added 96 rushing yards for Pacelli and Adam Kluck threw for two touchdowns.
It would appear that Pacelli is hitting its stride at the right time, but will face a difficult test in the first round of the playoffs against a Wild Rose team that finished the season as CWC-10 Conference Co-Champs with Rosholt. The playoff tilt will take place in Wild Rose at 7pm on Friday, October 19.
