Stevens Point–Pacelli volleyball won the Gresham Invite on Saturday by going 3-0. In the first match, Pacelli beat Gresham 25-10,25-7,25-7. In the second match, Pacelli beat Tri-County 25-9,25-7,25-6. In the final match, the Cardinals beat Gibraltar 25-15,25-15,25-9.
It was an impressive showing by the Cardinals’ defense, on average giving up only 9 points a game for the tournament.
Colleen Leary led the team with 36 assists.
As a team, Pacelli had 74 aces. Brooke Filtz led the team with 20 aces and Kasia Wojciehoski added 17.
Olivia Migas led Pacelli with 14 digs, Marisa Rice added 11.
Kasia Wojciehoski once again led the team in kills with 27. Jordyn Shields added 17 kills.
“Our service was outstanding and when we ran our offense we had some big kills,” said Pacelli coach Ray Gutowski. ”The girls played with a lot of confidence.”
Meanwhile, last week, Pacelli pulled out a 3-0 victory over conference rival Shiocton. Colleen Leary had 22 assists. Kasia Wojciehoski had 10 kills, while Jordyn Shields and Katie Olson each had 6 kills. Olivia Migas had 12 digs and 5 aces. As a team, Pacelli had 29 kills, 13 aces and 9 blocks.
Pacelli’s next match is Tuesday at home for senior night against Amherst.
