Stevens Point– The Pacelli Cardinals volleyball entered CWC-8 pool play action this weekend and emerged 2-1, defeating Amherst and Iola, but falling to Wittenberg-Birnamwood.
Pacelli took the first match from Amherst 3-0. The Cardinals won the first set 25-17, the second 25-13 and the third 25-15.
In the loss to Wittenberg-Birnamwood, Pacelli fell 3-0 by the scores of 14-25,23-25,13-25, respectively.
However, the Cardinals rebounded for a 3-0 victory over Iola-Scandinavia in the third match, 25-14,25-20,25-14.
Colleen Leary lead the team with 60 assists.
Kasia Wojciehoski had 36 kills and Jordyn Shields added 26.
Said Pacelli head coach Ray Gutowski, “We played well at times but couldn’t get things going during our match with Wittenberg.”
Pacelli will continue pool play on Tuesday.
