Stevens Point–Pacelli Soccer was defeated during last night’s first Sectionals game against Aquinas.
Pacelli had one of the most incredible seasons the school has ever seen, having an undefeated conference record and earning both the title of conference and regional champions.
The score was 0-0 at the end of the first half of the slippery and muddy game. It had rained all day just until the game began. All evening, players were constantly digging mud out of their cleats, trying to get the best traction possible.
Half way through the second half, Joe Fuller scored an impressive goal.
With only five minutes left in the second half, Aquinas scored a goal, tying it up.
The game went into a 10 minute over time. During the final second, right as the clock ticked to zero, Aquinas scored a goal, winning the game.
Goalie Zach Jensen, along with the defense, played an astonishing game. Jensen saved countless shots during one of the best games he has ever played; leaving everything he had on the field.
Pacelli did not bring home a win last night, but their amazing season is one that will not be forgotten.
Pacelli soccer surprised many people this year with their incredible talent. They can be assured that they gave it their all, and the parents and fans could not be more proud of them.
