Pittsville– The 2012 Marawood football regular season is in the books. There were some surprises, but the teams at the top probably didn’t surprise anyone. Edgar claimed the conference title with an undefeated season. Stratford finished in second place, losing only one conference game to Edgar and one non conference game. As was the case all season, there was a glut of teams in the middle of the conference with Marathon, Pittsville and Auburndale all holding their own. Here’s a look at how the final week played out.
Week 8 Results
Edgar 49, Neillsville 0. Edgar won its final game of the season with a shut out performance against Neillsville. Edgar got three rushing touchdowns from Nehemiah Werner. Edgar will host Wabeno/Laona on Friday night for their first playoff game.
Stratford 50, Auburndale 14. Stratford closed out this game with a vengeance. Travis Urlaub rushed for 184 yards and four touchdowns. In a strange scheduling quirk, these two teams will meet up in the first round of the playoffs with Stratford hosting the game on Friday night.
Marathon 29, Chequamegon 0. Marathon continued its great season by blowing out Chequamegon in the final game. Marathon will host Crandon on Friday night.
Rib Lake/Prentice 33, Tomahawk 14. Nice win by the Pirates. This victory gives Rib Lake/Prentice something to build upon for next season.
Pittsville 60, Phillips 26. Give credit to Pittsville for sticking together and pulling out a string of victories after losing star running back Eric Hahn a couple of weeks ago. Pittsville was travel to Hurley for a playoff tilt on Saturday at 1pm.
