Wisconsin Rapids–As the season draws to a close for the 2012 Wisconsin Rapids Red Raider football team, the 2012 senior class has one last chance to take the field. The won-loss record, just throw that out as it is not reflective on the 2012 senior effort.
Rapids will be saying goodbye to the following seniors:
Tyler Tesch, Zach Bassuener, Josh Biba, Jacob Gilbert, Simon Stevenoski, Derek Garski, Garrett O’Neil, Regis Henke, Gavin Getsinger, Alex Klonowski, Joe Podawiltz, Phil Gurtler, Levi Reinwand, Thomas Provost, Hayden Biegel, Connor Brey, Alex Berlyn, Dylan Schoenfeld, Erik Arnold, and Kraig Arndt.
“The 2012 senior players have been great this season. They really put a lot of effort, time and hard work into become good players and good people. In the process they have become a great team that truly cares about one another. They have also experienced and learned a lot about adversity this season. The simple fact that everything you work for does not always go your way, and the fact they never gave up while keeping a great attitude, makes this senior class a truly class act,” said coach Tony Biolo.
The Wausau West Warriors shared two common opponents this season with the Red Raiders. West fell to Stevens Point 28-18 in week one, and recently lost to Wausau East 23-21. This will make a great “game 9″ for both teams.
The Warriors like to play more of a west coast style of offense behind the passing attack of QB Jordon Huehnerfuss who went 54/118 for 829 yards and 8 touchdowns. His favorite target was Chris Cementi, who caught 21 passes for 340 yards and 3 touchdowns. West has not played a triple option like the Red Raiders run. I expect Red Raider junior Ryan Duxbury to run wild.
The Red Raiders were able to present a check in the amount of 10,000 dollars to UW Cancer Center at Riverview Hospital last Friday night.
“This has been a great learning and leadership tool for the football team, and we hope to continue the tradition,” said Traci Biolo.
