What: Pacelli @ Weyauwega-Fremont. When: 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 5 Records: Pacelli 2-4 overall 1-4 CWC-8; Weyauwega-Fremont 3-3 overall, 2-3 CWC-8.
Three Things To Watch
Out of the Gates: The Cardinals have managed to score just 13 points in the first half during conference play this season, while the Indians have mustered just 34. Both squads haven’t put up points in the first quarter since week 4. Whoever manages to get on the board early, should have an edge.
The Indians’ Ground Game: This is nothing like the balanced attack that Pacelli dealt with when they faced Bonduel a week ago. Weyauwega-Fremont needs to run the ball to be successful, period. The passing attack is almost non-existent, but the Indians are one of the top rushing teams in the league.
Cardinal QB’s: Michael Flees took the the start for the Cardinals, per usual, but was eventually relieved by Adam Kluck. Combined, the two were 1-13 passing for 28 yards and an interception. Regardless of who is under center for Pacelli, a few completed passes will be necessary to truly open up the running attack.
By The Numbers
3: First downs that the Indians have gained passing. That is opposed to 36 they have gained on the ground.
7: Yards that Logan Erdman averages per rush in conference play for the Indians. This marks the second week that Pacelli has faced a team that features a back who averages at least 7-yards per carry.
0: Points scored by the Cardinals in the second quarter during CWC play this season. They are the only team in the league yet to post a score in the second stanza.
21: Punts for Pacelli’s Kyle Rogers in conference games this season, the highest among CWC punters. His 33.8 yard average is fourth in the league.
