Stevens Point– Another week of football action in the CWC-8 is in the books and, as the calendar turns to October, many teams have playoffs on their minds.  The usual suspects took care of business on Friday night.  Amherst and Shiocton continue to roll.  One of the surprise scores this week was Bonduel’s win over Pacelli.  After beating Iola-Scandinavia, Pacelli looked as though it had turned a corner.  The Cardinals got in a hole early in the game and mounted a furious comeback, but ultimately fell short.  The Cardinals will have a chance to rebound this week against Weyauwega-Fremont.

Week 6 Results

Amherst 54, Wittenberg Birnamwood 14. Amherst is playing unbelievable, lights out football right now. Chris Zblewski had 153 passing yards and 136 rushing yards to lead the Falcons to yet another win.  After getting out to a fast start in the early weeks of the season, Wittenberg Birnamwood has struggled recently.

Shiocton 57, Weyauwega-Fremont 6.  Shiocton’s Talon Heinemeyer rushed for 155 yards and added 75 receiving yards.  Jacob Van Asten scored four touchdowns as Shiocton’s high octane offense continues to thump opposing defenses.

Manawa 29, Iola Scandinavia 13. Good rebound win for Manawa.  Iola Scandinavia continues to struggle against conference opponents.

Bonduel 21, Pacelli 19.  A late rally by Pacelli wasn’t enough to get them over the hump against Bonduel.  Give credit to Bonduel, this was a nice win for them on the road.

Standings

Team Conference Overall
Amherst 5-0 6-0
Shiocton 4-1 5-1
Manawa 3-2 4-2
Wittenberg-Birnamwood 2-3 2-4
Weyauwega-Fremont 2-3 3-3
Bonduel 2-3 2-4
Pacelli 1-4 2-4
Iola-Scandinavia 1-4 2-4

Week 7 Schedule

Amherst @ Iola-Scandinavia.  This is about as tough as it gets for Iola-Scandinavia.  They have really struggled in recent weeks and Amherst has all the momentum of a freight train chugging down the side of a mountain.  Look for Amherst to win.

Manawa @ Bonduel.  This is an interesting match up.  Both Manawa and Bonduel came up with big wins last week.  I would give a slight edge to Bonduel at home, but don’t count out Manawa in this contest.

Shiocton @ Wittenberg-Birnamwood.  Shiocton as so many weapons on offense and their defense is also very, very good.  Shiocton should win this game on the road.

Pacelli @ Weyauwega-Fremont.  Weyauwega got smacked last week and is playing at home.  Each week, it seems like Pacelli is on the verge of putting it all together.  Can the Cardinals rise to the occasion this week?
