Shiocton– Shiocton, coming off a 20-0 loss to Amherst in week 3, turned the tables in week 4, drilling the Pacelli Cardinals 36-0. Shiocton scored all their points in the first half, including 28 in the first quarter. Pacelli fought back in the second half and will look to build on that positive development moving forward.
“We were our own worst enemy in the first quarter losing to fumbles and giving Shiocton a short field both times,” said Pacelli coach Steve Raczek. “Down 28-0 after the first quarter, our defense finally showed what they are capable of and all but shut down Shiocton for the remaining 3 quarters. We are still struggling moving the ball on offense but are making improvements.”
The loss drops the Cardinals to 0-3 in the CWC-8 and 1-3 overall.
Jesse Raczek rushed for 32 yards for Pacelli and Michael Flees passed for 90 yards. Chris Poeschel led Pacelli with 66 receiving yards.
With the win, Shiocton remains 1 game behind Amherst in the CWC-8 at 2-1.
Pacelli will return home to take on Iola-Scandinavia in week 5. Iola-Scandinavia is 1-2 in conference play after a convincing 23-0 win over Wittenberg-Birnamwood in week 4.
