Wisconsin Rapids– The Wisconsin Rapids Red Raiders defeated the Marshfield Tigers by the score of 4-1 on Thursday night in Wisconsin Rapids.
The four goal outburst by was a welcome development for Rapids who, prior to Thursday’s tilt, had played six games in seven days.
“We played a really good game both offensively and defensively,” said Rapids’ Matt Hepp. ”We were patient on the attack which helped us break down their defense and score the four goals. Our defense played a great game but gave up an early goal from about 35 yards out, from there on out it was all us.”
Rapids had two goals by Seth Surendonk and kept up the attack and put pressure on Marshfield’s defense with both speed and creativity.
Nick Reber found the back of the net in the second half to put Rapids ahead 4-1.
“We didn’t give up any big defensive plays and that helped us roll to our win,” Hepp said. “If we keep playing this way in the rest of our conference games, there is no doubt we will do great things going in to playoffs in October.”
