Pittsville– For years, the Marawood Conference has belonged to the Edgar Wildcats. Although we are only two weeks into football season, this year appears to be no different. Edgar has won by an average of 45 points in the first two games and their defense has given up just 84 yards per game. While it looks like the Wildcats are in midseason form, their seems to be a healthy amount of confidence from Panther players that they can not only make this a game, but perhaps pull the upset.
After the much talked about 6-touchdown game from David Sojka in week two, Edgar will now have something else to keep an eye on instead of just keying in on Eric Hahn and the other Panther running backs. However, it remains to be seen which Panther offense will show up. Will it be the dominant one that put up 50 points against Tomahawk or will they struggle to finish drives as they did during their shutout loss to Marathon?
On the flip side, defensively the Panthers should hope for a repeat performance of week one when they only allowed a single touchdown in Marathon. Tomahawk used some size advantage last week and was able to do their part on the offensive side of the ball, scoring three touchdowns.
Outside of Stratford and Marathon, this appears to be one of the more interesting games in the Marawood Conference this week. Come up to Edgar for what is hopefully some good football between two teams that have goals of going deep in the playoffs.
