Rib Lake–The Auburndale Apaches made the long trek to play Rib Lake/Prentice on Friday night and came back home victorious by the final score of 21-18. The win marked Auburndale’s second of the season and was noteworthy as they rebounded after a rough outing against Edgar in week 2.
Quarterback Blake Anderson hooked up with Wyatt Weiler on a 66 yard touchdown pass and ran for another touchdown to pace the Apaches. Anderson finished with 159 passing yards in the game.
On the ground, Canyon Weiler rushed for 98 yards.
The Apaches limited Pirates’ dangerous quarterback Teague Shoup to only 54 yards passing. However, Pirates’ running back Zach Butera rumbled for over 150 yards to pace Rib Lake/Prentice.
One bright spot for Rib Lake/Prentice was the special teams play of Cody Van Luven, who returned four kickoffs for 167 yards.
Auburndale, now 2-1 on the season, will host Phillips next week.
