La Crosse– The Pacelli Cardinals football team got off to a good start in 2012 by beating rival Aquinas in La Crosse Saturday night. The final score of the contest was 28-20.
Pacelli rushed for 61 yards and quarterback Adam Kluck completed 7 of 14 passes for 149 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Cardinals to victory. Jake Feltz was on the receiving end of all four of Kluck’s touchdown passes and he ended up with 143 total receiving yards.
“This was a good start for us this year,” said head coach Steve Raczek. “We struggled a bit running the ball, but had some good success through the air. Defense played well as we led 28 – 7 mid way through the fourth quarter. Always a tough game versus Aquinas, they have been our longest running rivalry dating back more than 50 years. Jake Felts was the difference maker on offence with 4 touchdown reception, at 6 foot 6 inches he is a match up nightmare for defenses.”
Raczek said the team will look to build upon the win and correct mistakes.
Pacelli faces CWC-8 rival Amherst in Amherst on Friday night.
