Tomahawk– The Auburndale Apaches and Tomahawk Hatchets combined for 74 points in their Marawood opener on Friday night and when the dust had cleared, Auburndale squeaked out the win 40-34, but needed two overtimes to do it.
On the game-winning score, Wyatt Weiler threw a 14 yard touchdown to Isaac Castellano.
Auburndale quarterback Blake Anderson threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns. Austin Hawkins led the Apaches’ rushing attack with 122 yards and one touchdown.
In a game that didn’t see a whole lot of defense, Auburndale’s Ben Bolder did notch an interception.
Auburndale is 1-0 on the year while Tomahawk falls to 0-1.
