Sacramento, CA–UPDATE: The Strikers lose 3-1 to New York. Rachel Metz scored in the 3rd minute of stopage off of a corner from Gaby Millot. The Strikers finish 4th in the tournament but also 4th in the nation!
Previous Presidents Cup action:
The Strikers played Southern California to a 2-2 tie on July 14. The Strikers scored first early on a through ball from Walker Guzowski to Darian Molter, who finished to put them ahead by 1.
Southern Cal scored twice in the second half to put Southern Cal ahead. With 6 minutes to play, Striker Darian Molter scored unassisted from 23 yards out to bring it even. The game would end in a 2-2 tie.
The Strikers’ record in the tournament is now 0-1-2 with one game left to play against New York Sunday, July 15.
The Central FC Select team– aka The Strikers– played 1-1 tie on against Texas the morning of July 13. The game was even at the half at zero. Play stayed between the 18′s for a better part of the first half.
In the second half, Texas took a very nice shot from 19 yards or so.
The Strikers played down by 1 till a late push with 6 min or so left when Gaby Millot played a chipped ball in over the Texas defense from about 25 yards out. It was then gathered up by Darian Molter at the 18 when Molter took a nice low left footed shoot to beat the Teas keeper to bring the game even.
The officials added 2 mintes of stoppage and the Strikers held on for the tie.
