Wisconsin Rapids– The 2012 Red Raider football camp ends today. Over 50 kids with aspirations of playing varsity football attended the camp. The camp opened on Tuesday.
“The main focus of camp was fun. Fun and fundamentals. We want to take the kids through baby steps by having our upperclassmen take them through drills, and teach them a little bit of our system,” said coach Tony Biolo.
Leaders Ray Blossfield, and Tyler Tesch and many other varsity Red Raiders volunteered their time to help Biolo with drills, and more importantly bonding with the younger players. This is an example of how you build a football community.
All of the campers learned a lot especially Ryan Fleisner (wearer of the Brett Favre jersey), “I came to camp to learn more about football and to become faster” said Ryan.
The Red Raiders and Gene Noonan will be hosting a “Faster results” speed camp July 16,17, and 18 at Lincoln from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. grades 4-12 are encouraged to attend. For more details email Gene Noonan at [email protected], or call 715-424-1197. The camp focuses on lateral, horizontal, and vertical speed as well as teaching the mechanics on achieving faster results.
Red Raider Notes: 285 pound lineman Ray Blossfield wants to make the switch to QB (um, no), but if the Red Raiders can stay unbeaten until the Neenah game, rumor has it he might get a few snaps.
