Rapids comes from behind to beat Pacelli
Wisconsin Rapids– Monday marked the final regular season game for Pacelli, but simply another one for Wisconsin Rapids. For the second game in a row, the Raiders came from behind to win.
Pacelli took a 3-0 lead after five innings, but their lead was short lived, being quickly overthrown by Rapids with five runs in the sixth.
Two runs in the seventh by Pacelli forced the game into extra innings where the Raiders would come out on top 7-6 off a great hit by Jake Paitel, which drove in Cort Halbur.
Cort Halbur started on the mound but was relieved by Ben Schmid, who was later relieved by Kraig Arndt.
When asked about the game Kraig Arndt stated, “I pitched well and the team batted well, it was overall a good game.”
Pacelli assistant coach Kermit Wallin commented, “It was a great game.”
For Pacelli, Zach Jensen (2-4), Tyler Nalbach (2-4), Aaron Nickel (2-3, 3B) and Kyle Rogers (2-3, 2 RBI’s, 2B) were the leaders offensively.
Pacellli is now 17-9 overall and will play Tuesday, May 29th 4:30pm at Bukolt Park in Stevens Point against the winner of Wild Rose vs. Manawa.
Wisconsin Rapids head coach Bob Gawlitta was pleased with his team’s performance against Pacelli.
Said Gawlitta, “The kids stuck to it and they kept focused. I’m proud of them, you need to find a way to win and they found a way to win.”
