Area wrestlers advance to state.

Wisconsin Rapids–Congrats to the Red Raider wrestling team. Keegan Einerson, Rylan Lubeck, Casey Einerson, Jake Raflik, Zac benitz, Ryan Cone, and Devin Petersen all won sectional titles Saturday for your #1 ranked Lincoln Wrestling team. Ben Campbell and Marcus Senn will also advance to state. Great job all season Red Raiders your table is waiting.

Congrats to Stevens Point wrestler Ryan Boggs as he will be making the trip to Madison in the 195 division.

Big shout out to the Red Panther lady hockey team. They crushed Northern Edge 5-0 Friday night. The Rapids-Point co-op team out shot the Edge 71-7. The ladies will face off against Northland Pines Eagles Tuesday, February 21st, 7pm at the K.B.Willett Arena.

Carl Edwards won the pole for the Daytona 500. Danica Patrick qualified 29th but is guaranteed a spot in the race due to a pre qualifying deal between Stewart Haas racing and Tommy Baldwin racing. Clint Boyer running for Michael Waltrip racing was disqualified for failing inspection, but will get another shot in the qualifying race Thursday.

The Yankees received low level Pirate prospects Diego Moreno, and Exicardo Cayones in exchange for 20 million and pitcher A.J. Burnett. Burnett might flourish in the NL, and with the low expectations playing for the  Pirates.

Former Brewer Mike Cameron is calling it quits. Cameron’s career totals ended with a .249 BA, 278 home runs, and 968 rbi. Cameron was a good old school defensive player, who played hard nosed baseball.

The Brewers will be home against the Cardinals to open the season February 6th -8th. The Cubs come to town May 11th-13th, June 5th-7th, and August 20th-22nd. The Brewers will finish the season October 1st-3rd against the Padres.

The Detroit Lions Cliff Avril does not want the franchise tag. The Lions have huge issues with the salary cap. This marks the beginning of a battle for the young Lions.

Bill Haas defeated Phil Mickelson, and Keegan Bradley in the second playoff hole Sunday to win the national Trust Open at Riviera. It took a 45 foot putt to win it. Nice shot Mr. Haas your table is ready.

ESPN fired one employee, and suspended another for creating the slogan “Chink in the armor” on the ESPN website Saturday regarding national phenom Jermemy Lin, and the Knicks loss to the Hornets Friday night. Oops. Creating that slogan was pure Linsanity.
