Wisconsin Rapids–Jake Bassuener easily beat Joey Fredrick to secure the WR Fantasy Football Championship. This reporter finished a disappointing 4th. Joe Ritchay finished last.

The Lincoln High girls basketball team will be in action at Wausau East today and tomorrow playing non conference games against  Chippewa Falls and Superior. The girls have reeled off 6 wins in a row.

The Lincoln High boys basketball team will be in action at the Sentry classic in Point today, and tomorrow. They will face non conference opponents Breck and Milwaukee Career and Tech Ed.

The Lincoln boys hockey team will be in action December 28th and 29th in Tomah, WI. The Lincoln/SP girls hockey team will be in action December 28th-30th in Blaine, MN.

Pro Sports

Green Bay is sending Aaron Rodgers, John Kuhn, Greg Jennings, Scott Wells, B.J.Raji, Clay Matthews, and Charles Woodson to the Pro Bowl. The Patriots and 49ers led the NFL with 8 selections a piece. Biggest snub goes to Matthew Stafford who deserved to be there over Eli Manning. How did Antonio Gates make it? How did B.J.Raji make it? Past performances I guess, which is why I have not watched a Pro Bowl in 20 years. The voting should go to the coaches, with no coaches getting to vote for their own players. The game holds no excitement for me, but I would go to Hawaii and cover it, if someone asked.

Aaron Rodgers had the MVP in his grasp, then secured it with his performance against the Bears. Now comes the question. With everything sewn up, who plays against the Lions? What a confidence boost it would be for Detroit to beat Green Bay in the season finale, even if it is against the Packers second unit.

The Packers beat the Bears 4 times in 2011.

The Packers announced they are selling another 30,000 shares of stock to the public. People do understand this is just a pretty wall decoration, right? If not, CWS is selling the exact same type of shares. Show me the money, and the stock is yours!

The 49ers released Braylon Edwards. For a team short on WRs and fighting to hold the #2 seed, this says a lot about Edwards.

The New Orleans Saints ran up the score on division rival Atlanta. The next time the two teams play, this will be an issue. But the Saints offense is in high gear at the right time of the year.

Jon Gruden will coach in the NFL in 2012-2013. Bet on it.

The Viking’s Adrian Petersen tore his MCL. Will he back in 2012, and will he be the same running back?

The Brewers had 4 pitchers playing in the Dominican Winter League. Juan Perez pitched for the Phillies last season, and posted a 1.93 era in 28 innings. Perez is a left handed reliever.

The Brewers announced Joe Block will join Bob Ueker in the broadcast booth next season. Block worked for the Dodgers and Hornets last season. The Brewers also announced last week they had sold over 1 million tickets for next season.

The Texas Rangers Yorvitt Torrealba received a 66 game suspension for hitting an umpire. I for one think this should be reviewed by MLB and probably warrants further disciplinary action by MLB.

The Cubs signed Andy Sonnanstine of the Rays and Matt Corpas of the Rockies to minor league deals.

The Bucks won 46 games in Scott Skiles first season and fell to 35 last year. With only 66 games on the schedule (They should leave it that way), 35 wins would make the playoffs.

An unidentified fan threw a dead duck onto the ice in Anaheim Monday night, and got tossed. Fans in Detroit throw dead squid onto the ice all the time, and get cheered.
